Jill Shields, Runner
Jillian Shields has been a police officer with the Victoria Police Department for the last 9 years. The majority of Jillian’s career has been spent in frontline policing, working in patrol and the Community Services Division.
Jillian has always had a passion for support but recently found running to be the ideal balance between physical and mental health. Jillian recently participated in the Vancouver Island Trail Series and the Royal Victoria Marathon.
During her career, Jillian has experienced first hand the profound effects that traumatic events have on first responders. Jillian’s work with the Wounded Warrior Program has helped her have a better understanding of trauma and how and the ways in which it impacts people differently.
Jillian is honoured and excited to participate in the Wounded Warrior Run. She hopes that her participation helps to normalize conversations about mental health so others can feel more comfortable accessing resources to get the help they need.
