Donation Benefiting Veterans in the Province of Quebec

SAINTE-ANNE-DE-BELLEVUE, February 6, 2017 – Ste. Anne’s Hospital Foundation held a press conference today to announce a significant contribution of $60,000 provided jointly by Ste. Anne’s Hospital Foundation, Mrs. Anne Myles Brown and the Mingo-McEwen Fund to the Wounded Warriors Canada PTSD Service Dog Program.

This important contribution will support the pairing of up to four (4) PTSD Service Dogs with Veterans in the province of Quebec suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). PTSD Service Dogs have a profound impact on the lives of our Canadian heroes, helping them overcome the daily challenges of living with an Operational Stress Injury.

“Today is a very special day for the Mingo-McEwen Fund,” said Bob McEwen, founder of the MMF. “Not only have we partnered up with a very special lady, Mrs Anne Myles Brown, and the Ste Anne’s Hospital Foundation to support this very important project, but it’s a start to a very long term commitment with Wounded Warriors Canada and to the well-being of our veterans. This is a project that has been in the making for the past few years and is now finally brought to life today. I would like to say a special thank you to all of our supporters of the MMF who have believed in us and helped to make this day possible.”

“The key point to remember from today’s event is not just the funding announcement for a well-known PTSD Service Dog Program, said Andrée-Anne Desforges, Executive Director of Ste. Anne’s Hospital Foundation. Today, we announced that the lives of four (4) Veterans in the province of Quebec will be forever changed and they will never be alone again to make their way through life. These men and women, who have allowed us to live safely in a free country, fully deserve it.”

Phil Ralph, National Program Director of Wounded Warriors Canada, commented, “We are deeply grateful for the support from the Ste. Anne’s Hospital Foundation, Mrs. Anne Myles Brown and the Mingo-McEwen Fund. Wounded Warriors Canada is proud of its place as they national leader in funding the pairing of PTSD Service Dogs with our ill and injured Veterans. It is only through partnerships like we are announcing today that our programs are made possible and we are excited to expand our ability to help Veterans in the province of Quebec.”
