MP CELINA CAESAR-CHAVANNES ANNOUNCES WOUNDED WARRIORS CANADA WILL RECEIVE 250K FROM VAC

Whitby – Today, MP Caesar-Chavannes congratulated Wounded Warriors Canada on being selected as one of 21 organizations to receive funding in 2018 from the Veteran and Family Well-Being Fund. Wounded Warriors has received $245,000 to support the development of COPE, (Couples Overcoming PTSD Everyday).

The Veteran and Family Well-Being Fund was designed to support the creation of innovative services, supports and projects that enable Veterans to make smoother transitions to life after service.

“I was very pleased to learn that the Veterans and Family Well-Being Fund would be providing support to Wounded Warriors Canada. Every single day this organization delivers ground-breaking programming to help Veterans and their families heal together. I am confident that Wounded Warriors will continue to deliver transformational programs that support Canadians who have served and sacrificed so much for our country.”Celina Caesar-Chavannes, Member of Parliament for Whitby.

“We owe a great deal of gratitude to Veterans and their families, past and present, who have sacrificed so much for our freedom. This initiative will help Veterans and their families, including the many who live in Whitby, receive the community-based support they need and deserve.”Whitby Mayor Don Mitchell.

“Our innovative mental health programs like COPE are changing lives and families across Canada. At the same time, in order to keep up with the demand for COPE, we require additional funding streams to help us drive down our growing waitlist. We are proud to announce that every dollar from this grant will be invested into the provision of COPE programs for Veterans and their spouses/partners who would otherwise be waiting to receive this transformational program. We thank Veterans Affairs Canada for their support. This partnership is a tangible example of what it means to be in this together for mental health.”Scott Maxwell, Executive Director, Wounded Warriors Canada
