At Wounded Warriors Canada (WWC), consideration and respect for the privacy of our clients is paramount. Confidentiality, privacy and security of the personal information of our clients is integral to the operation of Wounded Warriors Canada and the trust our clients place in us.
Wounded Warriors Canada adheres to and complies with all requirements of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and all other similar governing provincial legislation.
Collection of Your Personal Information
WWC only collects personal information provided by you, with your consent.
WWC also only collects the minimal amount of information necessary to enable you to register for or enquire about our programs, such as name, address, email or other general contact information.
Any further personal information that may be necessary for and provided by you, with your consent, during participation in one of our programs is not collected or stored by WWC.
We may also collect general demographic information such as occupation, marital status, gender etc. but such information is always anonymous and voluntary.
Use of Your Personal Information
WWC uses your personal information in order to contact you, to inform you about our programs and services, and register you in those programs.
In the event a third party is engaged by WWC to deliver a program, WWC will ensure that only the relevant personal information necessary is disclosed to the third party and that the third party has the requisite security in place for the handling of personal information.
We may also use your personal information to:
Fundraise: send out information on the activities of WWC, provided you have asked to receive such information;
Plan, administer and manage our internal operations.
Other than for the purposes outlined above, WWC does not disclose, give, sell or otherwise distribute in any fashion, your personal information to any third party
Accessing, Correcting and Deleting Your Personal Information
If you wish to access or amend your personal information or to request that WWC permanently delete your personal information from our servers, please send an email to privacy@woundedwarriors.ca. WWC will ensure your personal information is accessible, amended and/or deleted within the timeframe legislated under PIPEDA.
Security of Your Personal Information
WWC will store your information in electronic format on industry-standard servers that we have selected.
Except where required to do so by law, WWC will not store your personal information in any physical or paper-based format. The servers we select to store information engage security software and generally accepted standards to protect personal information. The software used by these servers is intended to prevent unauthorized access or improper use.
However, no security system is perfect and there is always a risk of unauthorized parties accessing your personal information.
Therefore, we make no guarantees or representations as to the technical or legal compliance of the servers we use. WWC cannot guarantee the complete protection and security of your personal information.
In the event the your personal information is disclosed as the result of any breach of security of the Website or its servers, regardless of who is at fault, WWC will take all necessary and appropriate steps to advise all known affected individuals of the breach within a reasonable timeframe of learning of the breach.
Our servers are located exclusively in Canada.
Retention and Destruction of Information
Your personal information is kept for as long as it remains necessary or relevant for identified purposes, or as required by law. Personal information that is no longer necessary or relevant for the identified purposes or required to be retained by law is destroyed according to WWC policy. Information necessary for research and internal purposes may be kept indefinitely.
