JUNO Award Winner and Grammy Award Nominee TREVOR GUTHRIE New Charity Single STRONG HANDS
(Toronto, ON- October 15, 2015) — Coming off of the success of the breezy techno-pop single “Summertime” and Certified Canadian Gold single, “Soundwave”, Trevor Guthrie returns with a moving new acoustic song, STRONG HANDS, a charity single for Wounded Warriors Canada. Guthrie is proving equally capable of hitting an audience hard on the dance floor, and connecting with them emotionally.
The multi talented singer/songwriter sought inspiration for the song during trips to Normandy, France and Holland for the 60th anniversary of D-Day. Guthrie befriended many vets – including one man that lived down the street from his childhood home, and channeled the stories into a song that pushes him forward in the second phase of his innovative, genre-bending musical career.
Trevor’s new single, STRONG HANDS, was written almost 10 years ago, driven by the lack of awareness and respect for military vets – especially among younger generations. In keeping with his longstanding appreciation and respect for Canada’s veterans, Guthrie decided to dedicate his proceeds from the single, available Oct. 23 on all Digital Service Providers, to Canadian veterans’ charity Wounded Warriors Canada.

Reflecting deep personal connections through his music is nothing new for Guthrie; a close friend’s diagnosis with an inoperable brain tumor inspired him to write “This is What It Feels Like,” released by electronic dance music superstar Armin Van Buuren. “This Is What It Feels Like” received multiple award nominations, including a 2014 Grammy Award, 2014 JUNO Award, 2014 I Heart Music Awards and 2014 Canadian Radio Music Awards. The track has been listed for over a year in 15 different charts including; US Singles Top 100, Dutch Top 40 and Canada Singles Top 100.
About Trevor Guthrie:
Trevor Guthrie is an award-winning singer/songwriter known for several platinum hit songs. Born in Vancouver, Canada, Guthrie’s success began with his band soulDecision which garnered international recognition with “Faded” and “Ooh It’s Kinda Crazy”, from the album No One Does It Better. In 2012, Guthrie’s dear friend was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor inspiring him to write “This is What It Feels Like,” which was released by electronic dance music superstar Armin Van Buuren. “This Is What It Feels Like” received multiple award nominations such as a 2014 Grammy Award , 2014 JUNO Award, 2014 I Heart Music Awards and 2014 Canadian Radio Music Awards. The song became a Top 10 hit in over 25 countries. That breakthrough lit a fire within Guthrie and his shows are a testament to his growing versatility – bridging the worlds of live performance and electronic dance music. Not many artists can open on the acoustic guitar before heading behind the DJ booth. Guthrie has plans to add piano to the mix and, eventually, a live band – further blurring the lines between pop and EDM.
