National Service Dog Program

Setting the Bar

The Wounded Warriors Canada Service Dog Program will in conjunction with our advisors, identify and approve trainers and schools to train Wounded Warriors Canada PTSD Service Dogs. This ongoing process will monitor those trainers to ensure that they meet or exceed current and pending PTSD Service Dogs standards and laws throughout Canada.

In concrete terms, this will mean that the Wounded Warriors Canada Service Dog Program identifies trainers and schools that fall within the following parameters:

THE PROGRAM IS ACCREDITED UNDER ASSISTANCE DOGS INTERNATIONAL

THE PROGRAM PROVIDES A CONSISTENT HISTORY OF TRANSPARENT FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY

THE PROGRAM TRAINS TO A STANDARD THAT WOULD ENABLE DOG PAIRINGS TO MEET THE PUBLISHED BRITISH COLUMBIA GUIDE DOG AND SERVICE DOG ASSESSMENT

THE PROGRAM PROVIDES A CONSISTENT HISTORY OF TRANSPARENT FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY

(Note: Once the pending National Standards for PTSD Service Dogs in Canada are released the WWC Service Dog Program will meet those standards.)

For clarity, WWC does not provide training dollars for PTSD Service Dogs outside of those of our program partners nor do we provide funding to “train your own dog”.
