National Mental Health Service Provider

Lauralee Mills, WWC Ambassador, Ontario

Lauralee was born and raised in Glace Bay, NS until she joined the CAF in 2002 as a Mobile Support Equipment Operator and was proud to have served until 2017.

After numerous deployments including the war in Afghanistan, Lauralee was diagnosed with PTSD along with numerous other OSI’s which led to her being medically released from the military.

Lauralee’s struggles with her injuries on a daily basis led her to look for effective treatments that would help her. Her search led her to WWC where she participated in her first Highway of Hero’s Bike Ride in 2016. Since then, she has participated in 9 additional rides including 4 Battlefield Bike Rides in Europe.

Over the past 9 years Lauralee has been a proud supporter and advocate of WWC. Living with PTSD, Lauralee understands the impact it has on her life. Her husband also has PTSD, as do many of her comrades who battle with everyday struggles from it.

Part of Lauralee’s healing journey included getting certified in Yoga, Trauma Sensitive Yoga and Mental Health First Aid so she could help others.

She is a strong believer in how fitness helps to regulate the brain, improve mental health and overall well-being. She has been instructing and coaching fitness along with
breath work and movement since 2012. She currently runs programs in her local community, focusing on the aging population part of her commitment to help others.

During her 15 year military career, Lauralee was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration, Queen’s Jubilee medal and the General Campaign Star South-West Asia
(GCS-SWA) along with numerous Awards of Excellence in fitness. Having seen first-hand the positive outcomes from the programs that are offered through Wounded Warriors Canada she is proud to be an Ambassador for the charity in the Kingston and Napanee area, and continues to raise awareness and support for our
Veteran’s, First Responders and their families.
