WOUNDED WARRIORS CANADA RECEIVES $300,000 FEDERAL FUNDING BOOST TO EXPAND WARRIOR KIDS PROGRAM

Wounded Warriors Canada is thrilled to announce it has been awarded $300,000 in funding from Veterans Affairs Canada’s Veteran and Family Well-being Fund to expand its vital Warrior Kids Program. This significant investment will enable us to reach more children and youth of injured Veterans and first responders, providing them with essential mental health support and resilience-building resources.

The announcement was made by MP Ryan Turnbull, on behalf of the Honourable Darren Fisher, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence. This funding underscores the Government of Canada’s commitment to supporting the well-being of Veterans and their families, recognizing the unique challenges they face.

“We often talk about the importance of supporting Veterans after their service, but real support means investing in them, today and in the future. That’s why our government is awarding this funding. Expanding access to their existing Kids Program Support, isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s smart for Canada. I’m proud to support the work of Wounded Warriors Canada as a recipient of the Veteran and Family Well-being Fund.” said the Honourable Darren Fisher, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence.

“Supporting the mental health of the children of our Veterans is essential, and this Federal investment in Wounded Warriors Canada reflects our ongoing commitment to their well-being. Through this funding, we are expanding programs that provide crucial support to families who have made tremendous sacrifices for our country.” said Ryan Turnbull, Member of Parliament for Whitby,

“The continuing feedback from the Wounded Warriors Canada Warrior Kids Program has reinforced the growing need for supporting children and youth of our injured Veterans and first responders,” said Philip C. Ralph, CD, Director of Health Services, Wounded Warriors Canada. “Family members of Trauma Exposed Professionals require access to evidence-informed programming that builds knowledge and enhances resilience. We are profoundly grateful for the three-year funding commitment made available by Veterans Affairs Canada through the Veteran and Family Well-being Fund. This contribution will help us keep pace with the demand for this vital program and ensures participants receive access at no cost to the family.”

The Veteran and Family Well-being Fund, launched in 2018, has provided over $57 million to support research and innovative initiatives aimed at improving the well-being of Veterans and their families. This latest investment demonstrates the government’s continued dedication to supporting those who have served.
