Maria Marciano, Runner
Maria Marciano is an eight-year veteran with the RCMP in Port Alberni. Maria is a mental wellness proponent; striving to make mental health a priority at the detachment by working as the Co-Chair for the Detachment Wellness Committee and in the RCMP as a whole by pushing for changes and advocating for resources.
Originally from Ontario, she is married and has two fur-babies.
As an avid runner from a young age, she loved the speed and adrenaline from sprinting, but has since fallen in love with the stamina and mental toughness of long-distance running.
Maria has completed four full marathons (along with countless half marathons, 10 km and 5 km races) and in April 2022 she ran the Boston Marathon. While Maria did not start running as a way to de-stress, it has certainly provided her with an outlet.
Maria is excited to use her love of running to help bring awareness to an issue that is very important to her.
