National Mental Health Service Provider

Core Trauma Concepts

Core Trauma Concepts is a unique mental health program that introduces trauma fundamentals to organizations and trauma exposed professionals.

We are pleased to announce that Wounded Warriors Canada is working alongside the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) to bring the Core Trauma Concepts Program to Ontario’s fire services. Funding for this program was received through the government’s recently announced Mental Health and Addictions Fund.

The online Core Trauma Concepts Program is a unique platform that uses core introductory trauma concepts to raise awareness on mental health among Ontario fire service members. Following an overview of core concepts, the program transitions towards trauma-specific education and training.

The program draws upon existing WWC programs, including but not limited to:

Trauma Informed Leadership;
Before Operational Stress Injury; and,
Trauma Resiliency Program.

The Ontario fire service and other first responders across the province will be provided with access to the WWC clinician-design training program. This exciting initiative not only focuses on the mental health and well-being of Ontario’s firefighters, but also one that aims to provide fire service members with the tools needed to address and cope the with mental health challenges of the profession.
