Matt Carlson, Head Runner
Born and raised in Victoria, British Columbia, Matt currently works as a Projects Officer in Base Public Affairs at CFB Esquimalt. Matt is CFB Esquimalt’s National Defence Workplace Charitable Campaign (NDWCC) Team Leader and has overseen large scale special events at CFB Esquimalt for over 12 years. From 2018-2020, Matt was the WWRBC Head Runner and also supported the team in the Assistant Race Director role.
Since 2020, Matt has served in a support role with the run, relieving the running team on the road while also overseeing and finalizing all the permits required in making the WWRBC the success it is. In 2023, Matt will join the team once again to support this incredible mission and while striving to bring even more awareness and visibility to the cause. Matt believes nobody with an operational stress injury should ever suffer in silence and is very proud to support those who make the brave decision to seek out help.
