Wounded Warriors Canada returns from inaugural Battlefield Bike Ride
VIMY RIDGE, France – Wounded Warriors Canada was proud to host their inaugural Battlefield Bike Ride. Assembling on the 5th of June as did the troops in 1944, the participants began the ride with an emotional trip around Juno Beach on June 6, commemorating the 70th anniversary of D-Day. Eight days later the group made it all the way to Vimy Ridge where a special ceremony was held at the Vimy monument.
Over 100 Canadians, composed of serving and retired Canadian Armed Forces members and civilians, combined cycling through the rolling French countryside with the gravitas of walking in the footsteps of Canadian troops who were there before us.
The participants raised a significant amount of awareness of those living with the devastating impacts of Operational Stress Injures and, in particular, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
