Gord Hicks, WWC Ambassador, Southwestern Ontario

Gordon Hicks was born and raised in Sackville, NB and joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1988. As a member of the First Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment, Gord was first stationed to CFB London, then transferred to CFB Petawawa in 1991. There he met his wife, Danielle Ferko-Hicks, who was then an elementary French teacher in nearby Deep River. In 1991, Gord served in Saudia Arabia with OP Scalpel as part of OP Desert Storm and OP Desert Shield, as well as in OP Harmony in Croatia in 1993. Upon release from the military in 1995, Gord and Danielle relocated to London, where he has continued to grow his construction business.

In 2000, they welcomed their daughter, Isabelle. Gord has maintained close ties with the military, and has experienced the loss of friends and colleagues to military conflict and PTSD. As such, and wishing to make a personal and physical difference in this community, Gord founded 24 Hours of Heroes in 2016, and partnered with Wounded Warriors Canada. 24 Hours of Heroes is a CrossFit-style fitness event designed to raise awareness and funds in support of veterans and first responders living with PTSD. Gord is a very active member of his fitness community and is extremely proud to represent Wounded Warriors Canada within Southwestern Ontario, and offer his assistance wherever possible within their diverse programs and events.
