Warrior Kids Team Training Opportunity

We are looking for individuals to fill various camp counselor roles for our Warrior Kids Camps in Kelowna, BC, Orangeville, ON and Edmonton, AB. If you are interested please review the following requirements and training dates to ensure your availability.

CAMP COUNSELOR ROLES

  • Provides high-quality camp opportunities and enjoyable experiences for camp participants through positive interactions and leading a variety of fun camp activities.
  • Supervises campers and ensures their safety, development, growth, skill achievement, and general well-being.
  • Assists in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance.
  • Knows and understands all emergency procedures associated with the camp program.
  • Records and tracks camper’s dietary restrictions/allergies and ensures that the meals/snacks are distributed to them.
  • Mediates any campers’ disputes.
  • Ensures the cleanliness of the site.
  • Knows, enforces, and follows all safety guidelines associated with the camp program, including knowing the whereabouts of your charges at all times.
  • Maintains constant surveillance of the pool/body of water areas.
  •  Report feedback from sessions to Directors through debrief process
  •  Comply with Warrior Kids Camp policies and procedures
  • Willing to travel and stay overnight

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

Kelowna Camp – April 12 (Virtual) – 5-6:30 pm (PST) AND April 29 (IN Person) Kelowna 9 am-3 pm

Orangeville, Ontario Camp – May 10 (Virtual) – 6-7:30 pm EST AND May 13 (Virtual) 10 am-3 pm EST

Alberta – May 10 (Virtual) 4-5:30 pm MST AND June 24 (In Person) Camp Van Es 9:30 am-2:30 pm MST

CAMP DATES

Kelowna, BC – May 26, 27 & 28 (Staff arrive May 26 at 5 pm and stay overnight until May 28 at 3 pm)

Orangeville, ON – June 9, 10 &11 ( Staff arrive June 9 at 5 pm and stay overnight until June 11, 3 pm)

Edmonton, AB – July 31, August 1 & 2 ( Staff arrive July 31 at 5 pm and stay overnight until August 2, 3 pm)

Please note camp counselors are to stay overnight with children in cabins and must be in ratio with children (1 staff with every 5 kids) at all times during the camp. We have high expectations that all staff (facilitators and counselors) will be interacting and participating with kids throughout the camp weekend! This can be hard work. We will go over expectations and roles during the training weekend. It is very rewarding to do this job but it may not be for everyone. It is our hope we can support you in being successful in this role.

Camp staff compensation is $600 ($100 Training completion & $500 camp)
