LGen (Ret’d) the Honourable Romàéo A. Dallaire Joins Wounded Warriors Canada

Ottawa, Ontario – Wounded Warriors Canada is honoured to announce that Lieutenant-General The Honourable Roméo A. Dallaire, (Ret’d) has agreed to become Wounded Warriors Canada first ever, National Patron.
General Dallaire had a distinguished career in the Canadian military, achieving the rank of Lieutenant-General and becoming Assistant Deputy Minister (Human Resources) in the Department of National Defence in 1998. In 1994, General Dallaire commanded the United Nations Assistance Mission for Rwanda (UNAMIR).
As National Patron, General Dallaire will help Wounded Warriors Canada continue to bring national awareness to the staggering impacts of PTSD on Canadian Forces Members and their families.
General Dallaire commented, “Wounded Warriors Canada, in its fundamental philosophy, is committed to that intimate link with the wounded veterans and their family members and, as such, responded so well to my belief that every veteran counts and that we must strive to achieve 100% success in assisting to make each one of them thrive in our society with the respect due to a Wounded Warriorâ€.

Founded in 2006, Wounded Warriors Canada is a non-profit organization that helps Canadian Forces members – be they full time or reservists – who have been wounded or injured in their service to Canada.
Through a wide range or programs and services, they help find solutions where gaps have left our soldiers in need. Currently, their primary focus is on mental health and, particularly, the staggering impact of PTSD, perpetrated by Operational Stress Injuries. Overall, however, their mandate is to help any Veteran in need as they transition to civilian life.
