ROYAL OAK ROUND-UP CAMPAIGN SUPPORTING DURHAM REGION FIRST RESPONDERS
“Whitby, ON – Wounded Warriors Canada and the Royal Oak Pubs in Whitby are excited to announce a new partnership in support of Durham Region’s First Responders. Starting today, customers at both locations will have the opportunity to round up their bills to the nearest dollar. The Royal Oak will be donating all proceeds from each round up to Wounded Warriors Canada, which will provide direct mental health support to Durham Region’s First Responders and their families.
“The Round Up campaign is a first for us in Canada and we are extremely excited to launch this new initiative in Whitby, which is home for us at Wounded Warriors Canada. We have strong partnerships with Durham Regional Police, Paramedic Services and all of the Fire Services in the Region and we will be applying every dollar of the Round Up funding to support the mental health of their members and their families.” — Scott Maxwell, Executive Director, Wounded Warriors Canada.
“On behalf of Whitby Fire and Emergency Services, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the Royal Oak Pubs in Whitby. By initiating this round up opportunity for their customers, they are helping to transform the lives of first responders and their families. We have seen first-hand the amazing results in the lives of our fire fighters who have taken advantage of the mental health programs from Wounded Warriors Canada. Many of them have a new lease on life resulting in healthier family and workplace relationships, increased capacity to serve the public in their time of need, and most importantly the re-introduction of joy and happiness into their personal lives.” – Dave Speed, Fire Chief Whitby Fire and Emergency Services.
The campaign launches on the 19th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks that claimed the lives of 343 Firefighters, 60 Police Officers and 8 Paramedics.
“I couldn’t be more pleased to once again partner with Wounded Warriors Canada. Their Before Operational Stress and couples-based equine therapy programs operate right here in Durham and help improve the quality of life and mental health of our Region’s First Responders. Our heroes lay it on the line every day for us, so the least I can do is something for them. I am very excited to see this program come to life. Let’s start the “Round Up” on 9/11.” — Matt Cardwell, General Manager, Royal Oak Whitby Pubs.
