CALGARY – The Calgary Firefighters Association is proud to announce a partnership agreement with Wounded Warriors Canada. This partnership will add an additional layer of mental health support for the members of Calgary Fire, both active and retired. Wounded Warriors Canada will work directly with the Calgary Firefighters Association to offer their innovative mental health programs and services to members and their families in need of additional support.<\/p>\n

Mike Carter, President of the Calgary Firefighters Association, IAFF Local 255<\/strong>, stated \u201cour ever shifting environment within the fire service is seeing a change in the way we help our members by finding new and relevant methods to deal with the struggles firefighters face on a daily basis. This is an important step to building a more resilient firefighter community. Today\u2019s partnership with Wounded Warriors Canada is a big step in providing that resource. The Calgary Firefighters Association looks forward to working with Wounded Warriors Canada.\u00a0\u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n

Scott Maxwell, Executive Director of Wounded Warriors Canada<\/strong>, commented that \u201ctoday\u2019s announcement recognizes the fact that no one service, association, government agency, or organization will ever be the 100 per cent solution for their members in need of mental health support. When a member is struggling, it doesn\u2019t matter where, when or how the injury occurred. What matters is that our First Responders and their family members know that we are in this together \u2013 working to ensure they receive the help they so rightly deserve. We look forward to working with the Calgary Fire Fighters Association to do what we can to best help them support their members and their families.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

ABOUT THE CALGARY FIRE FIGTHERS ASSOCIATION: <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Calgary Fire Fighters Association was organized in 1917, and was affiliated as Local 255 of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) on October 4th<\/sup>, 1923, and represents more than 1300 members of the Calgary Fire Department. Local 255 is the third largest IAFF Local in Canada and is comprised of Fire Fighters, Apparatus Technicians and maintenance staff.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
