Pond Hockey Classic in Support of Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation and Wounded Warriors Canada
QUINTE REGION. December 6, 2016: CFB Trenton, in partnership with Scotiabank and Scotia Wealth Management, will be hosting the 6th Annual CFB Trenton Pond Hockey Classic on February 3 – 5, 2017.
This 4 on 4, Canadian Pond Hockey rules tournament will guarantee three games during the round robin play and feature a sudden death playoff format for the top teams. The tournament will take place on the Batawa Lions Community Rinks located in Batawa, Ontario.
This great event has raised approximately $140,000 in the five years since it began. The tournament will feature old-fashioned pond hockey, including night games under stadium lighting, while raising monies for both the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation and Wounded Warriors Canada.
In addition to the actual Pond Hockey tournament on the 4th and 5th of February, there will also be a dinner at the Batawa Community Centre February 3rd. The guest speaker for this evening will be Mr. Eugene Melnyk, owner of the Senators Hockey franchises in Ottawa and Belleville. “The CFB Trenton Pond Hockey Classic has quickly become a wonderful annual community hockey tradition in Quinte region,” said Eugene Melnyk, owner of the Ottawa Senators and the Belleville Senators. “As an Honorary Colonel of the Royal Canadian Air Force, I am exceptionally honoured to be part of an event that brings together our military and our community to help improve the lives of local residents and injured soldiers.”
Tickets for the evening and dinner will go on sale for $100 per person (including a $25 tax receipt) and include a live auction and entertainment.
