NEWS RELEASE

Moncton Victoria Day Charity Dance for Students
Proceeds from Event to go to WoundedWarriors.ca to benefit injured Canadian soldiers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Friday May, 14, 2010

Michael Rybak, a 15-year old MacNaughton High School student, is hosting Moncton's first Wounded Warriors Dance on Monday, May 24, Victoria Day at the City Grill Restaurant.

Michael’s older brother is currently serving in Afghanistan with the 1st Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment, and he believes that this is something he can do to support his brother.

"I wanted to be able to help soldiers like my brother who have served our country and now need our help," says Michael. "It seems like the right thing to do."

Proceeds from the ticket sales will be donated to Wounded Warriors.ca, a charity that supports Canadian soldiers who have been injured or wounded on missions.

“Our strength is the people that raise funds for us at events just like this across the country,” says Wayne Johnston, the president and founder of Wounded Warriors.ca. “It is particularly heartwarming when we are supported by conscientious young people like Michael and all those willing to attend for our cause.”

The charity event is open to all students between the ages of 14 and 17 years of age. Tickets are limited and will go on sale Monday May 17 and can be purchased by calling or texting 962-2106. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.
