Wounded Warriors.ca Helps Veterans in Vancouver
Vancouver - Wayne Johnston, the president and founder of WoundedWarriors.ca presented The Honourable Greg Thompson, then Minister of Veterans Affairs a cheque for $16,000 to assist in the running of the Veterans Affairs Canada with the Vancouver Homeless Storefront initiative.
Located in Vancouver's Lower East Side, the Vancouver Homeless Storefront initiative was established to identify and help Veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
"In partnering with Veterans Affairs Canada, we reaffirm our commitment to helping soldiers and Veterans wherever their wounds may lead them," said Wayne Johnston. "It is by being present on the streets and treating invisible wounds that we can help them,"
Wounded Warriors.ca is supporting the Vancouver Homeless Storefront initiative by providing an emergency fund of $16,000 to offer immediate help to any homeless Veterans such as vouchers for the emergency provision of food, clothing, shelter and transportation.
"The Vancouver Homeless Storefront is making it easier for vulnerable Veterans to access the services and benefits they have earned and deserve," said Minister Thompson. "Our government supports our Veterans as we reach out to those in need all across Canada."
This is the second such partnership with Veterans Affairs Canada for Wounded Warriors.ca. The first being in Montreal where a vehicle was donated in partnership with the canadian Auto Workers Union. The Vancouver Homeless Storefront and other outreach activities throughout Canada, is increasing its visibility and its presence on the ground in order to provide easier access to its programs and services.
