The Sapper Mike McTeague Wounded Warriors Fund
Edmonton Show & Shine

May 15th was the day that Edmonton Garrison was transformed. About 400 bikers and 300 cars took over the Parade Square This was neither a hostile takeover nor a protest, instead this was to show support for our injured soldiers. It was also the first time that I was able to ride my Harley Davidson right across the center without worrying about the RSM seeing me or tearing a strip off me.

The event I'm talking about was the First Annual Wounded Warrior Show and Shine and Motorcycle Poker Run.  This was an unbelievable event that managed to raise $12,000 for the Wounded Warrior Canada Charity. This charity was invented to assist our wounded Canadian soldiers and their families cope with some of the trauma they endure not only while in the hospital but also after the troops return home from war.

It was a beautiful sunny day and there were more than just great cars and bikes to look at.  There were military displays, fun stuff for kids, a BBQ, Ice Cream lady and even the Mini Donut guy came out. There were numerous silent auction items that were donated by local companies from all over the Edmonton and surrounding area.    I have to thank the Garrison for all their support and the public for coming out to enjoy the day with us.  For a lot this was the first time they seen the Garrison and they all said it was the best car show they attended. We were also honoured to have Major Campbell come out representing the Wounded Warriors Organization to be one of the judges for the car show.  His bravery and dedication is an inspiration for all.   Next year I promise to make the show bigger and better.
